= 1 - Advancement Requirements =

To advance to the next region of the world (Moonlight Glades), the player must acquire the next tier of Exoskeleton upgrades (see [[Player Character>>Player Character]]). These upgrades can be crafted using items found within the Verdant Expanse, and the crafting recipes can be found through exploration and quest completion.

== 1.1 - Recipe Acquisition ==

The recipes for the Exoskeleton upgrades can be discovered by finding working examples of said upgrades or written designs left behind by previous explorers of the Maw. Quests given to the player will lead to old mining/work sites within the Expanse, where the player can study these items and unlock the recipes required to craft them. Once a recipe is acquired, it cannot be lost.

== 1.2 - No Hidden Parts ==

All parts of the Exoskeleton must be acquired to advance to the lower depths. Therefore, it is imperative that these parts are not hidden so as to not soft-lock the player. Quests, or big points of interest that easily grab the player's attention (but are not easy to clear) should be the areas where the recipes can be found.

----

= 2 - Exoskeleton Construction =

The crafting of the Exoskeleton is done using items found by exploring and surviving within the Expanse. While the locations of the recipes might not be hard to find, gathering the items will require careful exploration of the Expanse at large.

== 2.1 - Item Locations ==

Items required for the construction of an Exoskeleton part can range in availability, with some being more easy to acquire, while others might be unique (only exist in limited numbers) and require the defeat of a tough enemy to get.

=== 2.1.1 - Unique Items ===

These items should be tied to the player's advancement through the inter-regional locale within the Expanse. Certain areas will be inaccessible until a certain enemy or quest has been achieved. Those same enemies and quests should be the ones that award critical items required for the Exoskeleton construction, or progression as a whole.

=== 2.1.2 - Abundant Items ===

Non-unique items can be found is various areas within the Expanse. The player can travel back to areas they have already visited to acquire more of a certain resource, and exploration will play a role in tracking down the places where resources grow in abundance (farming spots).

----

= 3 - Legendary Equipment =

Within the Verdant Expanse, as with all regions, the player will be able to get their hands on unique equipment that provide a substantial improvement to their capabilities, called Legendary Equipment. These pieces can be crafted or found through meticulous exploration of the world. Side-quests rewards and lore items found through exploration can offer clues as to the existence, and location they are at.

== 3.1 - Clue System ==

Side-quests the player can acquire on their journey, as well as exploration of both major and minor points of interest can lead to the discovery of clues in the form of notes, lore items, or item descriptions that provide the player with subtle information. It is up to the player to solve the mystery of their location, by putting together that information as these items are not pivotal to progression.

== 3.2 - Reaching the Recipes/Equipment ==

Once the player has located the area the Legendary Equipment/Recipe is in, reaching them should be a tough challenge that requires heavy preparation, planning, and skill to successfully complete. Not all the challenge has to come from combat however, smart thinking should also be involved.

For example: The player might find a chest with heavy explosives used in old mining operations. These items might appear useless at first, but clues from other sources might hint to the existence of a series of tunnels within which a once master craftsman dwarf was working. Said tunnels had collapsed, burying the entrance and leading to his demise. Using the explosives, the player can open those tunnels and explore the dungeon within. At the very end, the skeletal remains of the craftsman, as well as recipe for a Legendary tool that he drafted can be found.
)))

== 3.3 - Crafting the Equipment ==

Just like Exoskeleton parts, the items required for the construction of a Legendary piece of equipment can be found by exploring the world, only this time, owing to the optional nature of the equipment, the items required for the recipe will be much tougher to acquire.

However, these items should not be unique or overlap with Exoskeleton crafting requirements as that would block progression and hard-lock the player.
